Lagos state must have been disappointed with the news that President Muhammadu Buhari will not be coming to the state as expected.

The president was expected to be in Lagos for a two day working visit on Monday May 23 and Tuesday, May 24. However, it was announced on Sunday, May 22 that the president’s visit had been cancelled due to an ear infection.

Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant, media and publicity to the president confirmed that President Buhari will no longer be available for the two-day visit but will be represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

He said: “The president will not be able to make it to Lagos for a two-day working visit due to other busy schedule. He will however be represented by Vice president Yemi Osinbajo.”

Lagos was already in full preparatory mood to welcome he number one citizen to the economic capital of the country with billboards and posters welcoming him.

The state had also announced traffic regulations to the citizen to allow the president pass through without getting stuck in the usual Lagos traffic.

Naij.com noted that there were pictures of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode alongside President Buhari placed along Ikeja where the president would have likely passed on his way to the state house in Alausa.

Regardless of the cost of the preparation in anticipation of the president’s visit, the state would be more disappointed with Buhari’s inability to visit than the money wasted.
