Senate president, Bukola Saraki on Monday, May 23 commiserated with Senator Tayo Alasoadura representing Ondo Central senatorial district, over the death of his wife, Mrs Adetayo Alasoadura.
Saraki, who led a Senate delegation including the Senate leader, Senator Ali Ndume on a condolence visit to Alasoadura’s residence in Akure, on Friday, May 20, said the senator’s wife left at a time her services as a mother and dutiful wife were needed most.
Other Senators on the team included Baba Kaka Garbai representing Borno Central senatorial district and Barau Jibrin rpresenting Kano North senatorial district.

He stated that the sudden death was both a huge shock and a big loss to the entire Senate and urged the Senator and his entire family to take solace in the exemplary character of the deceased while she was alive.
“For the short time which our colleague has spent in the Senate, we feel his leadership roles and know that this is a big shock to him and the Senate at large.
“We all desire that she be alive even now to continue to play her supportive and motherly role in this family, but we cannot question God for calling her home because He alone knows and owns all things.
“However her life of exemplary service to this family in particular and humanity in general will remain indelible in our hearts and I want this to be your consolation,” Saraki said.

The Senate President prayed for God to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest and the bereaved Senator and his entire family the grace to bear the painful loss.
However, the wives of senators of the 8th Senate have expressed shock and deep sadness over the death of Mrs Alasoadura.

Mrs Toyin Saraki, the president of the forum on behalf of the association, described the late Mrs Alasoadura as a “devout prayer partner who enriched our Senators’ Wives Forum with constant positive contributions of friendship and sisterhood.”
She prayed the Almighty to receive the soul of the deceased in Heaven, and comfort her loved ones, her husband and children. “Indeed, she will be sorely missed,” Mrs. Saraki added.
The late Mrs Alasaodura died on Thursday, May 19.
