Commotion as two high court judges ‘disappear’

– Gunmen whisk away two judges at different locations in Kogi state

– The police spokesperson, ASP Willy Aya, who confirmed the incident, said the police were working to track down the abductors

The security situation in Kogi state deteriorated on Thursday, May 19, after two high court judges in the state were abducted by unknown.

Vanguard reports that the two judges, Justices Aliu Okeme and Timothy Ali were abducted the same day but at different locations.

The abductions which caused pandemonium in the state occurred in Ofu local government area where Okeme was reportedly abducted during a farm inspection, while the other occurred in Ayingba, Dekina local government area where Ali was reportedly abducted while on his way to the court.

The police spokesperson, ASP Willy Aya, who confirmed the incident said the police were working to track down the abductors.

In a related development, gunmen numbering about 12 invaded Osara police station in Adavi local government area of the state.

Vanguard reports that the attack on the police station occurred around 2.15am when the gunmen started shooting sporadically, throwing the sleepy community into confusion.

The attackers then forced their way into the station and headed straight into the armoury where they carted away arms and ammunition

The hoodlums thereafter flung open the police cell and released all the detainees in the cell.
